All it’s missing is the right app. Traceable gives you a blank white surface to use, as well as configurable grids, circles, angles, a French curve, and access to any image in your camera roll.

How did Traceable come about?

One day while designing a logo, I needed to trace a drawing, but I didn’t have a tracing table. So I grabbed my iPad. It worked pretty well, but the backgrounds I tried — empty Safari windows, flashlight apps — had too many input elements on the screen. What I needed a blank white screen with no touch areas.

A few tips on using Traceable.

Jack your brightness up to 100%. Using notebook paper is fine, but proper tracing paper is even better.

Draw with a pencil or other non-permanent writing implement. Using a Sharpie on your shiny new iPad probably isn’t the best idea.
